Christy O’Berry
Christy O’Berry is a Program Manager with Kramer.Firm (“KF”) where she performs third-party reviews of wireless siting permit applications on behalf of KF’s municipal clients. Third-party reviews include reviewing wireless permit applications for completeness, determining wireless site compliance with the Federal Communications Commissions’ rules and regulations, and determining wireless site compliance with local zoning and wireless telecommunications ordinances. This wireless permit application review requires balancing local interests within the boundaries of local, state and federal law.
As the Associate Counsel at Kramer Telecom Law Firm, P.C., Ms. O’Berry drafts, negotiates and reviews wireless telecommunications site leases for private and municipal landlords. When negotiating and drafting wireless leases, Ms. O’Berry balances the interests and rights of the municipality or private landlord with the needs of the wireless telecommunications provider to achieve the goal of protecting the landlord’s assets and ensuring protection from liabilities resulting from the wireless communications facility placed on their property.
Ms. O’Berry is also a registered Patent Attorney with the United Stated Patent and Trademark Office.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. O’Berry worked as a registered Professional Engineer (Civil) in the State of Virginia. While working as an engineer, Ms. O’Berry performed site design and project management for both private and municipal clients. Throughout her career as an engineer, Ms. O’Berry designed and managed the construction of municipal retail and recreational areas including design and build projects for a local university. Ms. O’Berry also performed forensic engineering analysis to investigate and remediate building envelope failures. Ms. O’Berry’s engineering work involved reading engineering drawings, performing site analysis, performing engineering calculations, and working with clients to design and build safe and aesthetically pleasing structures to serve the client’s needs.
As a contributor to the firm’s wireless blog on Wireless Tower Siting, Ms. O’Berry’s views help shape public policy in the wireless telecom sector.
Admitted to practice before all California state courts, Ms. O’Berry is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Education
Ms. O’Berry obtained her Juris Doctor with an International Law Certificate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she was an Assistant Symposium Editor and writer for the Public Interest Law Reporter and a Staff Writer for the Annals of Health Law.
Ms. O’Berry earned her LL.M. with a specialization in Entertainment and Media Law from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she was an Article Editor for the Journal of Law and Technology and a Mock Trial Coach.
Ms. O’Berry received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
